The Deputy Governor of Enugu State, His Excellency Barrister Ifeanyi Ossai has advised residents in the state to embrace Human Papilloma Virus Vaccine.

He stated this while addressing stakeholders including leaders from women Organisations accross the three senatorial zones in Enugu state.

Barrister Ifeanyi Ossai said the meeting was aimed at acknowledging women as keys elements in unlocking resistance to Human Pappilloma Virus and empowering them to use their different platforms to ensure the success of the vaccine.

He explained the need for all stakeholders, especially mothers to welcome this development and immunize their children between the ages of nine and fourteen years.

According to the Deputy Governor, “the Human papilloma virus vaccine has been tested and confirmed by the World Health Organization advisory committee. NAFDAC also certified its effectiveness and safety to human beings.

“Human Papilloma virus vaccine (HPV) works best between the ages of 9 and 14 years. It prevents diseases when children are vaccinated before being exposed to an infection”

Barr. Ossai advised people especially women who are much closer to their children to embrace this development as it is safe, effective and one way to keep more people from getting cancer.

He appealed to people to disregard myths and rumors shared on social media, blogs, and alternative websites which claims and scares people from these life-saving vaccines.

The Executive Director of Primary Health Care in the State Dr Ifeyinwa Ani-osheku provided valuable insights into the States Human Papilloma Virus vaccine campaign.

She narrated the achievements and challenges encountered in the vaccine rollout.

Dealing with their concerns, she equipped them with the right information to pass on to their constituents.

Present in the meeting were AlGON’s Wife Chairman and leader of Anglican Women Organization, the chairperson Nigeria Association Of Women Journalists NAWOJ Enugu state, Comrade Ngozi Ngene among other leaders.
