Some people in Enugu has reacted to the supreme court ruling on the appeal by the Labour party gubernatorial candidate, Chijioke Edeoga.
Some people interviewed by our correspondent described it as justice for the people while others said “will of the people was disregarded.”
For Comrade Felix Igwebuike, that the judgement was to enable Peter Mbah to continue the good works he has embarked upon since he assumed office.
he said ” I am certain that he really won the election because people voted him into power. just few months after swearing in, he gave ndi Enugu water to enjoy even during this christmas.
Peter Ndubuisi Mbah is a good thing that has happened to ndi Enugu and all of us are rejoicing for that.”
Mrs Adaobi Mary Chime encouraged everyone to support the administration of Peter Mbah so that he can do more for the people he has come to serve. According to her “God has really given us a man of the people and I will want us to stop distracting him because there is no court that is able to deny him this mandate given to him by God.”
Also, an entreprenuer, Mr Ikenna Ozokalu described the victory as a Christmas gift to the people of Enugu state. “I have never seen a good government like this. Peter Mbah started on a good mood and I know that he has a better agenda for us. My prayer is that God will continue to give him the actual wisdom and strength to finish well so that every nooks and crannies would feel the breeze of good governance with 8 years of his administration.
On the other hand, Mr. Ibe Ikebufo Odogwu attributed the outcome of the supreme court judgement as a rift. He said “we were thinking that this final judgement will unveil the truth of the whole matter rather the truth is still being buried. I am wondering where this type of life will lead us to because this has shown that truth is no longer sacred”.

“I still pray that one day God will show us his mercy. we want Edeoga and we voted for him,”
Remember that the Supreme Court on friday December 22, 2023 affirmed the election of Dr. Peter Mbah as the duly elected governor of Enugu State and dismissed the Appeal by the candidate of the Labour Party, Barr. Chijoke Edeoga seeking to nullify Mbah’s election.
Both the tribunal and Appeal Court upheld the declaration of Mbah as the winner of the March 18th Governorship poll by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.
