The Anambra State Police command has arrested 30 suspects for alleged kidnapping, armed robbery, cultism.
According to the state commissioner of police CP Aderemi Adeoye, the arrests are part of a larger effort to combat crime and improve public safety in the state.
Revealing this at the Command headquarters in Amawbia while briefing journalists on the activities of the Command, he stated that operatives of the command arrested 9 suspected armed robbers, 6 suspected cult members, three suspected insurgents, 12 kidnappers but rescued two kidnapped victims.
“In a dramatic crackdown, the Anambra Police Command has arrested 30 individuals suspected of a wide range of crimes, including kidnapping, cultism, and armed robbery. The arrests, which took place over the course of several weeks, between December 2023 and January 2024 represents a major blow to criminal activity in the state.”

He continued “The operatives also recovered 40 rounds of ammunition and 11 vehicles.”
He explained that the area commanders and divisional police officers in all the police formations across the State were directed to beef up the security in their areas of supervision to curb the activities of criminal elements during the season.
He noted that the Command is putting up plans and actions to ensure that all the entrances that connect Anambra State with Abia, Enugu and Imo States where the hoodlums are suspected to be operating are well policed.
He appealed for cooperation from members of the public especially with information that will aid in apprehending miscreants in their midst.
