The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has rued the effects of late Herbert Wigwe’s death on the nation’s educational sector.

Wigwe, former Chief Executive Officer of Access Holdings was killed last week in a helicopter crash alongside his wife, child and three others in the United States of America.

The Deputy National Chairman of the NNPP, Prince Nwaeze Onu said in an interview in Abakaliki on Sunday, that Wigwe’s death would be felt more in the education sector where he invested seriously in.

“The Wigwe University which he founded and was to commence operations in September this year, is an ideal example of academic panache and excellence.

“The concept and vision of the university is in line with the NNPP’s vision in education which is anchored on provision of quality and affordable education that would solve the teething challenges confronting the nation”.

“Such vision represents the impact our National Leader, Rabiu Musa Kwakwanso has made on the educational sector through massive scholarship schemes to Nigerians from all walks of life, construction of new and rehabilitation of dilapidated primary and secondary schools across the country among others,”.

The party ‘s deputy national chairman urged concerned authorities to ensure the take off of the university despite its founder’s demise, noting that its ideals was too poignant to go into oblivion.

“The nation’s leadership should also immortalise Wigwe for his outstanding contributions to the banking, education among other sectors with his felt impact on the nation’s economy.

“His contributions to national life should be emulated by all with his philanthropic disposition being the watchword to leaders and the well-to-do in the society,”.

He marinated that the NNPP. remains the party that would salvage the country from its present economic and security quagmire, urging Nigerians to give it a chance to prove its mettle.

“This is a party that does not have recycled political harbingers but progressives who have the vision, class and capacity to effect the desired change in the country.

“Nigerians are going through their worst economic period with insecurity pervading the entire landscape while the leaders watch helplessly.”
