The senator representing Enugu North, Okey Ezea, says construction works will begin at the site of an annex of the National Orthopaedic Hospital at Aku, in Igbo-Etiti LGA of Enugu State, this year.

The senator, popularly called “Ideke”, stated this in his address on the occasion of a thanksgiving and grand reception held in his honour in Nsukka at the weekend.

He said the annex and other projects have been captured in the 2024 budget, thanks to his efforts and those of fellow lawmakers from the district.

According to Senator Ezea, at the event attended by eminent personalities from across the country, solar-powered boreholes and solar street lights will be installed in several communities in Nsukka zone, including the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, this year.

Giving a report of his achievements within nine months at the Senate, Senator Okey Ezea said his interactions with his colleagues and members of the federal executive have produced good fruit, as evident in the ongoing reconstruction of the dilapidated Makurdi–Obollo–Opi–Ninth Mile expressway as well as three rural roads at Uzo-Uwani LGA that he inherited from Senator Chukwuka Utazi of the Ninth Senate.

Senator Ezea assured the people of Enugu North that he would always give his best in the Senate, adding that the nation has heard their cry for justice and equity.

He also called for unity in the senatorial district for more progress and prosperity of its people.

Earlier at a thanksgiving Mass at St. Theresa’s Catholic Cathedral, Bishop Godfrey Onah admonished Senator Okey Ezea to continue to love his people as a politician, just as he had loved them as a businessman.
