The Chairman Enugu State Local Government Service Commission, Prof. Osy Okanya has advised the staff of Enugu South Local Government to beef_up their positive work attendance and performances.

The assertion was made earlier today at Enugu South Lgt Headquarter Uwani during a Monitoring tour to the Local Government by the commission chairman and other dignified executives from the commission and State NULGE office.

The monitoring team was received and taken around the offices and departments of the local govt by some management authority led by the Director of Personnel Management (DPM) who doubles as the current acting local govt. Chairman, Mrs. Oby Chiene .

Speaking during a brief interview , Prof.Okanya emphasises on the decision of the Lgt Service Commission to sanitize the local government system. He stated that their monitoring team will pay unannounced visit to each 17 Local govt in the State trice to ensure compliance to the service rule and positive attitude to work by local govt staff.

Still speaking, he mentioned that their move was promoted by the benevolent gestures of Governor Peter Mba to ensuring that the welfare of the local govt workers are being taken of ranging from payment of minimum wage, clearance of pensions to payment of incremental salaries equal to that of the State Civil Servants.

Frowning to some poor attendance and attitude to work registered at some places visited, Okanya said all the workers absent during the time of their visit will be issued queries and would not be paid April salary. He also said that if any one is absent trice will be retrenched by the end of the tour which ends in 3 months.

He stressed that it will help to know the actual number of regular local govt workers in the State who are serious and whose names would be automated to clock in and clock out office are the only to enjoy the rosey benefits of Mba’s administration.
