In a move that has caused widespread consternation, the Ejindu Memorial Nursery/Primary School in Ngwo, Enugu State has flouted the Federal Government’s directive for a public holiday for workers, including teachers and students.

Parents were reportedly left outraged when their children were instructed by the Education secretary of the mission school,
Canon Izuchukwu Amos to attend classes on the May Day holiday, which is usually observed in honor of workers’ rights.

This decision has raised serious questions about the school’s commitment to following federal regulations and respecting the rights of teachers and students.

Parents have expressed frustration and concern over the school’s lack of communication and transparency regarding the decision.

Some have even threatened legal action against the school for its apparent disregard of federal law.

Despite these protests, the Ejindu Nursery/Primary School has yet to issue a statement or explanation for its actions, leaving many wondering what could possibly have motivated such a controversial decision.

The Ejindu Nursery/Primary School, where this controversial holiday directive originated, is part of the larger Rev. Ejindu Group of Schools, led by Bishop Sosthenes Eze of the Anglican Diocese of Enugu North.

When our Correspondent visited the school, students were seen around the premises while teachers were in their classrooms.

A management staff who spoke under anonymity said “the school authority insisted we have classes today”
