The National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) has banned the use of all electronic gadgets used to aid examination malpractice.

This was contained in a press release below

“SUMMARY OF EXAMINATION BRIEFING AND SUNDAY EXAMS

You are by this notice informed that Monday examinations will now be written on SUNDAYS proceeding Mondays. This is as a result of the situation in South Eastern Nigeria.

NOTE: I reiterate that examinations meant for Mondays will now be written on Sunday before Mondays.

Examination in the National Open University of Nigeria and other universities is a serious business and as a result, all examination rules are to be adhered to.

1. All rules guiding our examination are well stated at the back of your ANSWER SCRIPTS OR BOOKLET . Kindly read them carefully before the commencement of your Examination.
2. Examination Malpractice/Misconduct will not be tolerated, students caught will be punished according to the stated regulations of the University.
3. Punishment for impersonation will attract EXPULSION. Please desist from it.
4. Examination clearance that is duly signed by the Centre Director will be the major criteria to admit you into the Examination Hall. Come with your student ID Card.
5. Lateness to Examination Hall is not allowed. Please be at the Study Centre 30 minutes before the commencement of each examination. A minute late will not be tolerated.
6. Phones, Bags and other students’ belongings are not allowed in the vicinity of the Examination Hall.
7. Electronic Gadgets used to aid examination malpractice will not be allowed such as: Wrist Watch, Ear Pod, Eye Glass, amongst others. You know them, please don’t come with them.
8. Indecent dressing will NOT be CONDONED. Please check your Examination Clearance Form.

In another development, the school authority released a warning to graduands at the 13th NOUN Convocation ceremony “This is to finally warn all graduands that are still in custody of the University academic Gowns after the 13th Convocation ceremony to return them immediately. Failure to comply with this directive attracts severe punishment which includes seizure of certificate amongst others.

The Enugu center Director stated this during the examination briefing held recently in the area.

According to the director, wrist Watches, Ear Pods, Eye Glasses and others used for examination malpractice would not be allowed in the hall.
