Beloved Catholic Devotee Mr Felix Ogbu Laid to Rest: Onueke Onowa Mourns His Glorious Departure

The remains of Mr Felix Ekete Chukwuma Ogbu of Ogbu Nwa Nwaforeji of Umuejionu family has been laid to rest by Bishop Callistus Onaga in Onueke Onowa village, Ndiagu Akpugo, Nkanu West LGA of Enugu state.

Celebrating the burial mass, the Catholic Bishop of Enugu Diocese, Most Rev. Callistus Onaga, highlighted Mr Ogbu’s strong faith- saying, ‘With God all things are impossible.’

Giving an eloquent tribute to the deceased, Bishop Onaga urged Mr Ogbu’s children to carry on their father’s legacy as a man of faith and courage who with his wife stood with the Church at every time and season.

Bishop Onaga’s words echoed the sentiments of many in attendance, who remembered Mr Ogbu not only as a devout Catholic, but also as a man who lived his faith through his actions.

In a homily, the Rev Fr Mike, praised Mr Ogbu for his unwavering commitment to his Catholic faith, stating that “Mr Ogbu stood firm in his Catholic faith and always rejected whatever that was contrary to that.”

He urged the congregation to follow Mr Ogbu’s example, imploring them to know their faith and stand by it.

Fr Mike went on to say, “The late Mr Ogbu was a living example of how faith can guide one’s life. He was steadfast in his beliefs, even when they were challenged. This is a lesson we can all take to heart that in a world of uncertainty, we should hold onto our faith like a beacon in the darkness.”

One of the deceased sons and Catholic priest, the Rev Fr Michael Amobi Ogbu, shared his own personal memories of his father during the service.

“My father was not only a devout Catholic, but he was also a generous, peace-loving, and hardworking man,” said Fr Ogbu,

His voice cracking with emotion, he continued “He was also a wonderful family man who showed us what it means to love and cherish those closest to you.”

The stories shared by Fr Mike and Fr Amobi painted a picture of a man who had touched the lives of countless people in his community.

And as the service drew to a close, it became clear that Mr Ogbu’s legacies would not be soon forgotten as he loved the Catholic liturgy and belonged to various religious associations in the Church.

The burial service which was the culmination of a week-long celebration of Mr Felix Ekete Chukwuma Ogbu’s life, began with a well-attended vigil Mass at the Holy Ghost Cathedral Enugu on April 26, 2024.

Priests, religious, family members, lay faithful, parishioners at Holy Trinity Catholic Church Ndiagu Akpugo, friends, and well-wishers gathered to pay their respects and bear witnesses to the strong Christian faith that defined Mr Ogbu’s life.

The burial itself was a testament to Mr Ogbu’s impact on his community, with a galaxy of priests, religious, parishioners, and dignitaries in attendance.

As they watched the casket containing Mr Ogbu’s earthly remains being laid to rest, many could not help but reflected on the legacy of a man who had lived a life of faith, love, and service to humanity.
