Rt Hon Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi’s actions in office and when he has left office have continued to inspire and convince everyone that a good leader makes impacts and leaves daily examples for others to emulate. Undoubtedly, his unique style of leadership that entails harmonious collaborations with relevant stakeholders with the view to giving them a sense of belonging in decision-making processes on issues that affect them has been top-notch.

In forming his cabinet members as the Governor of Enugu State, he gave each local government area (17 LGAs) in the state the rare opportunity of choosing a consensus nominee to be appointed a commissioner in his cabinet. The reason for doing this is chiefly induced by his unwavering desire to ensure that the right person was chosen and to reassure his teeming supporters that his government is poised to breach the yawning gaps between the leaders and the led.

That impressive decision to give stakeholders the opportunity to help form a formidable cabinet that will help him translate his dream of a peaceful, progressive Enugu into a reality underscored his accommodating, visionary disposition. He does not want anyone to feel aggrieved, thereby regretting voting for him to emerge as Governor.

Gburus acknowledges the transient nature of power and believes that offices should not be abused for selfish reasons. That is why he makes everyone important regardless of who they are and where they are coming from. This is an established fact that his naysayers have not been able to distort over time with their virulent politics. He has consistently demonstrated uncommon love for everyone because he is interested in the overall betterment of his people.

In the same vein, Gburus-led administration initiated a laudable grassroots development program tagged “One Community One Project,” which helped each autonomous community in Enugu State choose a project of their choice. Rt Hon Ugwuanyi earmarked N2.25 billion through the approval of the State Executive Council (EXCO) for the projects in a bid to kickstart the program.

Through the project, his government disbursed N10 million to each community through their traditional rulers and President Generals (PGs) to help in executing projects that address their peculiar and immediate developmental needs. It is on record that the program helped tremendously in the development of the grassroots as many communities keep giving testimonies of projects successfully executed through the innovative program.

Through the One Community, One Project initiative of Rt Hon Ugwuanyi, he has not only displayed his genuine love for people at the grassroots but also proved in a scintillating and efficacious manner that the well-being of the masses electrifies his soul.

Gburus makes governance look very easy, and he is impressively interested in giving everyone a sense of belonging in governance. He has shown this remarkable quality in offices he has occupied so far.
