A member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mr. Ogbobe Chinonso from Nua, Aku, experienced a horrifying ordeal as he returned from a party meeting held at Igbo Etiti Local Government. The victim recounted the terrifying event, which occurred near Ossy Manu Road in Aku, revealing a premeditated attack that left him with multiple machete wounds.

According to Mr. Ogbobe’s account, he and a friend were riding motorcycles and discussing the meeting when they were ambushed by a group of assailants. The attackers, split between two motorcycles, had three individuals on each bike. Recognizing the danger, the victim’s companion attempted to speed away but was unable to assist the victim as they were quickly surrounded.

Narrating the incident, he said, “I went to the PDP NEC Meeting at Igbo Etiti Local Government. After the meeting, on my way back to Aku with my friend, we were both riding our motorcycles. Before I knew it, a group of boys, about two motorcycles with three guys each, double-crossed me. Immediately, my friend noticed it, and he accelerated his motorcycle to escape. They had already surrounded me, so I couldn’t escape.”

He continued, “Another motorcycle with three guys appeared. One of them, wearing only pants, no shirt, and no trousers, jumped out and chased me with a machete. I abandoned my motorcycle and started running, but he caught up with me, and I fell down. He started slashing my body with the machete. He wanted to cut off my neck, but by the grace of God, the machete only cut my left hand two times, cutting my palm and my shoulder.”

The assailant’s apparent intent was to inflict severe, if not fatal, injuries, as they aimed for the victim’s neck but struck their shoulder instead.
This alarming incident points to escalating tensions between Ikolo and Aku, raising serious concerns over the safety of political figures and their supporters. Authorities must address these acts of violence and ensure that political expression can be exercised without fear of physical harm.

The small village of Ikolo unleashed an onslaught of violence upon the peaceful town of Aku, leaving behind a trail of destruction and chaos.
