Women Support Women International (WOSUWO), a non-partisan organization dedicated to promoting women’s empowerment, recently paid a courtesy visit to the speaker Enugu state House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Uche Ugwu.

During the visit by the mobilization committee, WOSUWO discussed its support for candidates with excellent portfolios and mandates aligned with its mission. The organization also expressed the need for inclusion in state programs and events, commending the legislators for their work thus far while hoping to see more progress in the Furture.

According to the team lead, Hon. Serah Ngozi-Edochie, who represented the president of Women Support Women (WOSUWO) and Executive Director Heroine Women Foundation,bAmb. Onyi Mamah, “WOSUWO’s work is not only important for the women of Enugu State, but for our entire society. By uplifting women, we are creating a more equitable and prosperous future for all.”

The secretary of the team, Mrs Tonia Omeje described Rt. Hon. Uche Ugwu as a prominent figure in Enugu State politics. “Hon, your commitment to women’s empowerment is rooted in your personal experience growing up in a household with strong, hardworking women who made sacrifices for their families. As a result, you have made it your mission to create a more just and equitable society for all women. We really thank God for this wonderful opportunity”.

Responding, the Speaker, Enugu state House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Uche Ugwu, welcomed WOSUWO’s mobilization team and remarked: “It is always a pleasure to engage with organizations that share our commitment to the betterment of our state. Your passion for women’s empowerment is truly inspiring, and we look forward to working with you to achieve our shared goals. Rt. Hon. Uche Ugwu continued, “We recognize that women are the backbone of our society and we must do all we can to support them. WOSUWO’s effort to ensure that women have a voice and a place at the table is greatly appreciated.” end of quote.

In a related development, the team also visited another member of the house, Hon. Osita Hyginus Okoh.

Speaking during the tour, the team members who took turns to explain the aim of the visit appreciated the privilege to discuss WOSUWO ‘s women Empowerment agenda with who is who in the society.

The team lead said “WOSUWO is dedicated to promoting women’s participation in all aspects of the society, and we believe that our collaboration with the Enugu State legislature can bring about real change for the women of our state. We look forward to working with you to make this vision a reality.”

In a reaction, Hon. Okoh noted “The work that WOSUWO is doing is vital for the progress of women in our society. Hon. Osita Hyginus Okoh added, “We are committed to working with WOSUWO to create an environment where women can thrive and succeed. Together, we can make a real difference in the lives of women in Enugu State.”

The legislators promised to carry WOSUWO along in the discharge of their communitityb expressing appreciation for the organization’s efforts and commitment to women’s empowerment in the state.
