The Nigeria Union of Journaliists Enugu state council has decried indescriminate billing categories by Enugu Electricity Distribution Company, EEDC.
The union stated this during its July Congress held at Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi Press Center Enugu.
Led by the chairman Comrade Sam Udekwe, the congress during its deliberations on the welfare of members and overall progress of the Council, came up with the following resolutions:
The resolutions are as follows
“Congress calls on the Enugu Electricity Distribution Company EEDC to be responsible in the generation of their charges for consumers in the wake of the classification of tariffs in bands
Congress frowns at what it described as the indiscriminate placement of customers of EEDC at categories that are not appropriate for their consumption.
Congress calls on the Enugu State Ministry of Environment to intervene in the worsening erosion that is threatening to destroy lives and property in the Trans Ekulu and New Layout areas of the state and other environs.
Congress calls on the Enugu state government to prevail on traffic officers to discharge their duties of controlling traffic instead of embarrassing commuters at traffic lights.
Congress commends President Bola Tinubu for signing into law the South East Development Commission while also calling on those who will be elected as representatives to focus on the issues that have for long affected the Southeast region rather than enriching their pockets.
Congress calls on security operatives, including the Nigerian Army ,the Nigerian Police and others to work towards curbing the rising cases of kidnapping in Enugu State.”
