Commissioner Gerald C. Otiji Celebrates One Year of Transformative Leadership in Enugu State’s Ministry of Works and Infrastructure
Enugu State’s Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Engr. Gerald I.Otiji, marks a remarkable one-year milestone in office, leaving an indelible mark on the Ministry. His exceptional leadership, expertise, and dedication have inspired excellence in individuals, employees, and institutions.
With 28 years of combined domestic and international experience, Engr. Otiji has established himself as a visionary and role model, fostering a culture of teamwork, innovation, and outstanding achievement. His legacy continues to inspire and motivate others to embrace engineering excellence.
Under his supervision, the Ministry has transformed 71 roads in Enugu Metropolis, providing modern facelifts, stabilization, and lasting solutions. Ongoing projects include prototype Smart Schools, road networks, and infrastructure development in rural communities.
Engr. Otiji’s recent achievements and initiatives include delivering 71 roads, and coordinating emergency repairs. He has received directives to embark on 141 Urban roads and 20 rural roads, which he aims to deliver within the working weather window.
Supervised restoration of convention current to Enugu state secretariat complex which had been off since 2018.
His Excellency, Barrister Peter Ndubuisi Mba rehabilitated both 5MVA and 33KVA transformer that had been down and out of service since 2018 coupled with rehabilitation and servicing of eight 11KVA feeder panels, six 33KVA feeder panels and repair of 3 circuit breakers to restore light back to the state secretariat.
Monitored and evaluated projects being executed by His Excellency Dr Peter Ndubuisi Mbah.
In a get together with the Management team the Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure advised his team to take time to reflect on their thoughts and priorities, engage in discussions with their inner self and the Holy Spirit to gain mental clarity,analyze their day, focus on tasks that add value, and avoid unnecessary arguments.
He added that they should limit social media use and spend quality time with values of life .
Engr Gerald said that they should prioritize tasks that add value to their life and leave non-essential ones behind, create their own content to support government activities and contribute to the progress of their community, Identify weaknesses in companies and offer solutions to help them grow.
He stressed that they should strive to win in every situation, remembering that winners are the ones who make a lasting impact. Fasten your seatbelt, stay focused, and work towards achieving our goals.
With remarkable one year in office Commissioner OTIJI thanked the Management team for their hard work and dedication. He urged his team to stay focused ‘We’ve achieved so much in one year, and we’re proud of our progress. Let’s continue to work together, supporting each other and casting aside blame, Let’s keep moving forward, ready for the next challenge
He expressed gratitude to his team, God Almighty and Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah for their support during his one year in office and giving him an opportunity to serve the State.
With the governor of Enugu State, His Excellency Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, directing the ministry to embark on the construction of 141 roads, the Commissioner is determined to deliver on his mandate to provide citizens with quality infrastructure that will transform the state.
The program is expected to bring significant changes to the transportation landscape in Enugu State, boosting economic growth and quality of life for citizens.
