The Ugwuanyi Touch: How His Positive Impact Transformed Enugu State

By Hon. Theophilus Nnaemeka Mbah, De Oracle

History will be kind to Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi for entrenching peace in Enugu State during a time when security challenges plagued other states in the South East geo-political zone. His tenure as governor will be remembered for his virtues as a peacemaker and a humble leader who embraced everyone, regardless of political or religious differences. Governor Ugwuanyi went the extra mile to engage in dialogue and foster peace. Without his peaceful and uncommon governance, the history of Enugu State—past, present, and future—would not be complete.

Upon the successful completion of his eight-year tenure, Governor Ugwuanyi established and founded SUMAS, demonstrating his commitment to education and innovation. He also made significant investments in job creation and youth empowerment, which have positively impacted the lives of many in Enugu State.

The peaceful atmosphere in Enugu, made possible by Governor Ugwuanyi’s exceptional leadership and devotion to God, will forever be appreciated. His legacy of peace will continue to resonate in Enugu State. As Jesus said to His apostles, “Today I give you peace,” so did Lawrence Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, by God’s grace, bring peace to Enugu State. May peace be with him and remain with him. The history of Enugu State, whether past, present, or future, would be incomplete without his leadership, especially his investments in education innovation, infrastructure development, and improving the living standards of the people, including providing free medical healthcare.
