The federal government said it has rolled out different intervention programmes to cushion the impact of the removal of fuel subsidy, the floating of the Naira, and other ongoing reforms in the country.

Speaking during a sensitization event, Idris, represented by the Head of the Federal Information Centre Enugu, Mr. Bonaventure Ngwu, noted that the present administration has implemented well-conceived policies with the aim of improving the lives of its citizens.

According to him, the sensitization is aimed at bringing the knowledge of such intervention and how to access them, to enable them to utilise the opportunity effectively.

These programs, according to the Minister of Information, Mohammed Idris, are timely responses to the current challenges facing the country.

“These intervention programs are no doubt timely response to the current economic challenges facing the country. They are well-conceived policies that will improve the lives of our citizens.”

In a reaction, a key note speaker and former Vice president Nigeria Union of Journalists South East Zone, Comrade Kenneth Ofoma, commended the federal government for the interventions and urged the people to take full advantage of them.

Highlighting the importance of the sensitisation exercise organized by the federal ministry of Information, Ofoma regretted that in the past, many of such laudable interventions were not accessed.

“Many of such interventions in the past have not been accessed by the public due to lack of awareness.”
“Today, about 8 of the intervention programs were listed among which were the CNG conversion project, special fund for talented and skilled youths including interventions for Niger-Delta youths, Interventions for Large Small, Medium and large industries.”

“Others are Nigerian Education Loan fund (NELFund). All these interventions were rolled out by the federal government to caution the adverse effect of the removal of fuel subsidy.”

He appealed to the federal government to set up Compressed Natural Gas, CNG, conversion Centre in the South East region to enable the people of the region benefit from the interventions.

Ofoma further commended the government for introducing these programs and urged the people to take full advantage of them.

“We must ensure that we are not left behind in benefiting from these interventions,” he said. “The establishment of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) conversion centers in the South East region will also enable the people of the region to benefit from this intervention.”

The chairman of the occasion, Mr Chukwuemeka Nwachukwu, urged the people to access the intervention programme to enable them to cushion the effect of the present economic hardship in the country.

“We are grateful to the government for introducing these interventions and for their commitment to the well-being of the people,”

Despite the challenges facing the country, the government remains committed to addressing these issues and improving the lives of the people. The introduction of these intervention programs is a step in the right direction and a sign of hope for the future.” he also stated.

Some participants who spoke with Desirenews said that the success of these intervention programs will depend on the active participation of the people.

They agreed that It was essential for citizens to be informed about these programs and to utilize them to the fullest extent possible.
