In a resounding display of electoral strength, the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has won every local government chairmanship election in Anambra State, securing all 21 seats and consolidating its dominant position as the premier political party in the ares.
“The elections, which were held across the state on September 28, saw APGA candidates receiving overwhelming support from voters in every local government area, underscoring the party’s widespread popularity and its effective campaign strategy.
According to the Anambra State Independent Electoral Commission (ANSIEC), APGA candidates not only won the elections by a comfortable margin but also received the highest number of votes in every local government area.
“In the aftermath of the elections, party leaders and supporters have attributed APGA’s sweeping victory to the party’s focus on good governance, community engagement, and policy initiatives that directly address the needs and concerns of the people of Anambra State”.
Speaking after the announcement of the election results, the APGA Chairman, Chief Jude Okeke, thanked the people of Anambra State for their support and reiterated the party’s commitment to delivering on its promises.
“The sweeping victory has also sent a strong message to other political parties in the state, signaling APGA’s growing dominance and its ability to deliver on its promises to the people.”
“While the opposition parties had hoped to make inroads in the local government elections, APGA’s victory has reinforced its position as the preeminent political force in the state.”
This dominance according to him is expected to have implications for future elections, including the next gubernatorial election, which is due to be held in 2024.
