The chairman Enugu State Internal Revenue Service (ESIRS) Mr. Emmanuel Ekene Nnamani has praised the vital role of taxpayers in powering Enugu state’s development.

Nnamani who stated this in Enugu during an interactive session with journalists emphasized the importance of tax contributions in enabling infrastructure projects, driving economic growth, and ensuring the ongoing progress in the state.

He also lauded the commitment of taxpayers to the city’s future, highlighting their investments as key drivers of Enugu’s continued advancement.

Nnamani highlighted the role of taxpayers in funding road construction projects, which are essential for increasing connectivity and facilitating economic activity.

He noted that these projects were only possible because of the consistent tax contributions of individuals and businesses in Enugu.

The chairman also emphasized the role of taxpayers in supporting other initiatives, such as education and health programs, which are vital for the well-being of the city’s residents.

The ESIRS Boss stated that Enugu state is working towards being the most friendly tax environment in Nigeria.

Mr Emmanuel Nnamani emphasize that the government has a consolidated tax collection in all the markets in Enugu state and maintained that the e-ticket means of tax collection propels people in the state especially business owners and transporters the ease of doing their businesses.

The Chairman also said that the State has been able to solve the issue of multiple taxation through the introduction of a single yearly unified tax payment system using the E-ticketing

According to him, the system allows business owners in the informal sector to pay their taxes once a year using an e-Ticket platform rather than paying into different revenue generating MDAs.

Mr Nnamani further said a similar system applies to the formal sector where business owners do not need to pay multiple times to different agencies.

He noted that the state government has open opportunity of negotiating how every tax payer including corporate body wants to pay his or her tax to ensure business revenue growth in the area.
