Enugu South Community Mourns Pathfinder Hon. Donatus Ani: Ononaenyi Laid to Rest

The Enugu South Community paid their last respects today to ‘Pathfinder’ Hon. Donatus Ani, affectionately known as ‘Ononaenyi’, who passed away recently.

The former Deputy Mayor and Member of the Enugu State House of Assembly was laid to rest in his hometown, Ugwuaji Awkunanaw Community, amidst tears and tributes from family, friends, and the wider community.

Hon. Ani’s life was celebrated by the people he served, with many sharing anecdotes about his dedication to the community and his legacy as a leader.

The Executive Chairman of the Enugu South Local Government Area, Hon. Caleb Ani, welcomed the deceased’s family members and expressed his condolences, saying, ‘In God you will gather the strength to carry-on.'”

“I welcome all of you and I appreciate you for ensuring that the remains of our Father, Brother, Grandfather Uncle and friend arrived here today, in a situation like this, it may seem like the world has fallen apart but I urge you to take heart, and look up onto God who is the author and finisher of our faith, in God you will gather the strength to carry-on”

He equally prayed that the soul of the deceased finds repose in bosom of the Lord almighty and for successful burial program .

On behalf of the NULGE, Enugu South Chapter, the NULGE Secretary Chijoke Nnamchi recounted how hard working and friendly Ononaenyi was during his tenure in the local Government expecailly how he fought for the welfare of the workforce then. He encouraged the deceased family members to be bear the irreplaceable loss as death is an inevitable end and dept we all must pay to the mother earth.

Responding, a relation to the deceased thanked the Executive Chairman and the attendees for the warm reception they received and requested that same gesture be shown to them on 13th of December when he would be buried .

Present are the leader of Enugu South Legislative House Hon. John Egbo, the HPM of Enugu South Council Josephine Agu , the SPA Media and Publicity Hon. Sam Echi Agbo and some party and council stakeholders.

The event was attended by several notable figures, including the Leader of the Enugu South Legislative House, Hon. John Egbo, and the State Information Officer, Deborah Odoh, who praised Hon. Ani for his contributions to the community.
