Police Foil Crime, Arrest 2 Suspects With Pistol, Ammunition

The Anambra State Police Command has made a significant breakthrough in combating crime, arresting two suspects, Raphael Peverga and Saakura Teryima, both 22 years old and from Benue State. The suspects were apprehended at a security checkpoint on Umudioka-Awkuzu road by Igbariam on January 25, 2025, while attempting to flee from a white Toyota Corolla vehicle.¹

During the operation, the police recovered one Barreta pistol, two live ammunition, and the Toyota Corolla vehicle. The suspects allegedly jumped out of the moving vehicle when ordered to park for a security search. Efforts are currently underway to arrest the other two suspects who are still at large.

This development is part of the Command’s ongoing efforts to combat criminal activities in the state. The Commissioner of Police, CP Nnaghe Obono Itam, has assured that the Command will continue to evolve strategies and improve operational positioning to frustrate the plans of criminal elements.

The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Ikenga A Tochukwu, confirmed the incident and stated that the suspects are currently being interrogated. He urged anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of the fleeing suspects to come forward and assist the authorities.
