A police investigation is underway in Anambra State after the gruesome discovery of three siblings, aged 5, 7, and 9, who were found dead in a freezer at their family home in Nnewichi village, Nnewi North local government area.
The children’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ejezie, had left for work, leaving the children at home. Upon returning from an examination, the mother, Mrs. Chikazor Ejezie, a lecturer and nurse, found the house open and the children missing.
After a search, the bodies were discovered in the freezer. The father, Mr. Ejezie Udochukwu, who is based in Edo State, was informed of the incident and rushed to Nnewichi.
According to the father, “My wife told me after searching for the kids by herself and a search party, without success, in despair the deep freezer was opened and behold, the dead bodies of the kids were there.”
The police have commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the children’s death. The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, confirmed the incident, stating that the police are working to unravel the circumstances surrounding the tragic event.
The Commissioner of Police, Nnaghe Obono Itam, has ordered the case to be transferred to the State Investigation Department for further investigation.
The compound where the incident occurred has been sealed off to aid in the investigation. The police are urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward.
