Scam Alert: Enugu Ministry of Works, Infrastructure Warns Against Fraudulent Activities

The Enugu State Ministry of Works and Infrastructure has issued a public service announcement warning citizens about a scammer impersonating the Honourable Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure.

According to a release signed by the Public Relations Officer (PRO), Ngozi Ngene, the scammer, identified as Lekan Itunu on TrueCaller, is using phone number 08036620427 and displaying the Commissioner’s and Governor’s pictures on his WhatsApp profile to deceive unsuspecting members of the public.

The scammer is falsely claiming that the State Government is launching a mass housing scheme, and asking interested contractors and buyers to pay money into an FCMB account with the name Okezi George and account number 1027235186.

The Ministry advises citizens to exercise caution and conduct thorough due diligence to verify the authenticity of such projects before making any payments. Security agencies are currently investigating the matter to apprehend the fraudster.

For further enquiries, citizens can contact the PRO on 07033709098.
