In further pursuit of its People Charter of Needs, the Ebonyi State Government has dispatched another batch of students to the United Kingdom under it’s scholarship scheme for students abroad.

This is in keeping with the promise of Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru to sponsor 300 scholars of Ebonyi State origin in universities abroad, complementing the 700 scholars already approved and fully funded to enjoy masters and doctorate programs across universities in Nigeria

Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Prof Amari Omaka SAN led the batch of postgraduate scholarship awardees to universities in Cambridge and Manchester United Kingdom.

Most of the scholars are in highly ranked Universities in the UK including Anglia Ruskin University, University of Greater Manchester, University of Salford and some Universities in Canada.

Speaking shortly before their departure, Amari said the had earlier awarded postgraduate scholarship to “2021 Law class” of Ebonyi State University to pursue their masters degrees in law.

“This class award is about 200 in number, bringing total accessible scholarship awards to 1,200, both local and foreign.

“By this latest departure of students to the UK, Governor Nwifuru is keeping faith with the promise he made to Ebonyians in his campaign manifesto christened “People’s charter of needs,” Amari said.

On the leadership team with Omaka are the Secretary of Ebonyi State Scholarship Board, Dr Steven Ikporo, the Special Assistant to the Governor on Students Affairs, Joshua Nwafor and Dr James Ndieze of Ebonyi State Scholarship Board.

Education occupies the premier position in the People’s Charter of Needs of the Nwifuru administration.
