The Speaker of the Anambra State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Somtochukwu Udeze, has expressed deep concern and disappointment over the escape of two murder suspects from police custody. The suspects were implicated in the murder of Hon. Justice Azuka, a lawmaker representing Onitsha 1 Constituency.

The Commissioner briefed the delegation on the measures being taken to re-arrest the escaped suspects, including the deployment of special tactical teams and intelligence gathering efforts. He also assured them that disciplinary actions have been initiated against the officers involved in the incident.
The Speaker, Rt. Hon. Somtochukwu Udeze, commended the Commissioner for his prompt response and assured him of the Assembly’s support in ensuring that justice is served. He also called for increased vigilance and cooperation among security agencies, the government, and the public to prevent such incidents in the future.
The meeting, which was held at the Police Headquarters in Awka, was attended by senior political delegates, including the Majority Leader, Hon. Engr. Sir Ikenna Sylvester Ofodeme, and the State Chairman of the Labour Party. The meeting concluded with a one-minute silence in honor of the late Hon. Justice Azuka.
