NAWOJ Empowers Pregnant Women in Ozalla, Agbani Health Centers

The Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Enugu State Chapter, conducted a sensitization visit to Ozalla and Agbani Health Centers to educate pregnant women on pregnancy journey and support.

Comrade Ngozi Ngene, Chairperson of NAWOJ Enugu State, urged pregnant women to register for ante-natal care early at hospitals with good medical facilities. This, she emphasized, would ensure safe delivery and early identification of potential risks and complications.

Ngene encouraged pregnant mothers to engage in productive activities, such as petty businesses, to achieve financial independence, personal growth, and contribute to family income.

Adaobi Anah, a NAWOJ member and Assistant Director News Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria Enugu Zonal Station stressed the importance of personal hygiene for pregnant and breastfeeding mothers, highlighting the risks of infections before and after delivery.

The Monitoring and Evaluation Focal Person at Ozalla Health Center, Amaka Okeke, and the Assistant Officer In Charge (OIC) at Agbani Health Center, Nonyelum Anih, expressed gratitude for NAWOJ’s visit and assured their readiness to support the pregnant women throughout their journey.

To show appreciation, NAWOJ donated delivery mats and laundry materials to the pregnant women at both health centers.

This initiative aligns with NAWOJ’s commitment to promoting maternal health and reducing maternal mortality in Enugu State.
