From Trauma to Triumph: Chairman Asogwa Offers Automatic Employment to Mrs. Echegi, Survivor of Domestic Violence

In a heartwarming gesture, Chairman Asogwa heartily welcomed Mrs. Chinonso Loveth Echegi back to Nsukka after receiving treatment for the injuries she sustained. Chairman Asogwa gave Mrs. Echegi a warm welcome back to Nsukka she was accompanied by the team from the Honourable Commissioner for Children, Gender Affairs and Social Development, Hon. Mrs. Ngozi Enih.

Mrs. Echegi had been seriously injured by her husband in a tragic incident on January 27th, 2025, at their country home in Ibagwani. The incident sparked widespread concern, prompting Mayor Asogwa to intervene swiftly and ensure Mrs. Echegi was moved to and received proper medical care at Enugu State University Teaching Hospital, Parklane Enugu. The Mayor’s wife also showed solidarity with Mrs. Echegi by visiting her at the hospital and later visiting her family at Itchi-Agu to offer further support on behalf of Engr. Jude Chinedu Asogwa.

Speaking at the visit, Mrs. Esther Mba, Director of the Ministry of Children, Gender Affairs and Social Development, Enugu, who represented the Honourable Commissioner on the visit, praised the swift assistance efforts of the governor of Enugu state, His Excellency Barr. Dr. Peter Ndubisi Mba, the efforts of Hon. Mrs. Ngozi Enih, and the compassionate efforts of Chairman Asogwa for coming to Mrs. Echegi’s assistance. She solicited more help for Mrs. Echegi, who may find it difficult reintegrating into society.

Chairman Asogwa spoke out against gender-based violence, emphasizing the importance of supporting survivors and promoting peaceful conflict resolution. He demonstrated his commitment to supporting survivors by offering Mrs. Echegi automatic employment, recognizing the challenges she may face in earning a living and supporting her children due to her disability.

This compassionate gesture aims to empower Mrs. Echegi as she rebuilds her.
