World NGO Day: Ambassador Mamah Calls for Collective Action to Drive Social Change

February 27th marks the annual celebration of World NGO Day, a momentous occasion to recognize the vital contributions of Non-Governmental organizations (NGOs) worldwide.

Ambassador Onyinye Mamah, Executive Director of Heroine Women Foundation and President of Women Support Women for Empowerment and Mentorship Initiative (WOSUWO), has called on governments, corporations, and individuals to harness the collective power of NGOs to drive transformative change and accelerate progress towards a more equitable and just society.

In an interview commemorating World NGO Day 2025, Ambassador Mamah emphasized the critical role NGOs play in addressing the world’s most pressing challenges, including gender inequality, social injustice, human rights violations, and climate change.

“As we mark World NGO Day, we recognize the tireless efforts of NGOs worldwide to create a more just and equitable world,” Ambassador Mamah stated. “We call on governments, corporations, and individuals to support and empower NGOs, amplifying their impact and accelerating progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals.”

Ambassador Mamah’s call to action comes as the world grapples with unprecedented challenges, from the COVID-19 pandemic to rising inequality and social unrest. As NGOs continue to play a critical role in responding to these challenges, Ambassador Mamah’s message serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of collaboration and collective action.

“By working together, we can unlock the full potential of NGOs and create a brighter, more sustainable future for all,” Ambassador Mamah concluded.

In a separate statement, Ambassador Mamah acknowledged the significance of NGOs in advancing the Sustainable Development Goals and promoting human rights. She emphasized the critical role NGOs play in providing vital support to affected communities during humanitarian crises and advocating for the rights and interests of marginalized and vulnerable populations.

“As we celebrate World NGO Day, I extend my sincerest appreciation to the dedicated individuals who work tirelessly for NGOs globally,” Ambassador Mamah stated. “Your expertise, compassion, and unwavering commitment to creating positive change are the driving force behind our shared success.”
