A Federal High Court sitting in Abakaliki has affirmed the expulsion of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Vice Chairman South-East, Chief Ali Odefa from the party.

The affimation followed the granting of the reliefs sought by applicants in Suit No: FHC/AI/CS/FHR/197, between Hon. Herbert Onyedikachi, Hon Anoke, Egbe, Njoku Nwagu, Moses Idika, Ogbonnaya Idika, Obinna Chukwu, among others versus Chief Ali Odefa (defendant), PDP and Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The plaintiffs had sought for reliefs seeking an order restraining Odefa from parading himself as a member of the PDP and enjoying the rights and privileges accorded to members of the party.

The.plantiffs equally sought for an order restraining Odefa from holding the office of National Vice Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP ) South – East Zone.

The Presiding Judge, Justice Hillary Oshomah while delivering judgement on the suit, granted the reliefs sought by the plaintiffs and affirmed the expulsion of Ali Odefa from the PDP.

Counsel to the plaintiffs, Chief Erjenede while reacting to the judgement, commended the court and prayed for a cost of N5 million against the 1st defendant, Odefa.

Counsel for the defendants Bar. Ifeanyi Chukwu, told the court that they were not opposed to the judgment.

It will be recalled that Odefa was expelled from the PDP on December 12, 2024, by the Executives of the party in Oguduokwor ward Onicha Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.

This was after a disciplinary committee of the party recommended his expulsion having found him guilty of anti-party activities.

The Federal High Court presided by Justice Hilary Oshomah, had earlier awarded N100 million damages against Odefa and issued an order restraining him and the police from harassing, arresting or intimidating the applicants on issue.
