Mbah’s Security Milestones: Who Has Done Better?

By Reuben Onyishi

It beats imagination that some folk would dare Mbah on security, seeking to rubbish his giant strides on security with spurious claims of mass massacre in Isi-Uzo and Uzo-Uwani The fact is that security is Mbah sepecial forte. So, how dare the detractors impugn him on security when they know that he is a doyen on security issues. Let the leopard not pursue the monkey on three tops, for it was siren on a tree.

When Mbah took over, there was palpable fear in the land. Everything was pigledy-higledy as the non-state actors had seized the entire Southeast on the jogular, throating it to death. The Monday sit-at-home was all the rage, and you dare not defy it.The economy of the Southeas was worse off for it as people continued to sit at home. Seeing that it has succeeded, the perpetrators would every now and then declare sit-at-home as it pleased them, and they would comply for fear.

As soon as Mbah came on board, he declared war on the Monday sit-at-home, saying it would not be tolerated in Enugu State.People feared for their lives, knowing that those behind the dastardly act were merciless.Even when Nnamdi Kanu distanced himself from it, they continued because they were gaining from it. No one had ever dared the nonstate actors and got away with it. Their word was law. But Mbah was determined to end it. He braced up and personally supervised malls, banks, and major businesses in Enugu to ensure they opened for business. Shops that would not open were sealed.Mbah assured the people of their security, and true to type, there was no incident. Those who attempted to breach the security of lives and property were well taken care of. Mbah even won the New Telegraph Governor of the Year Award for what they called his courage in leadership. How come it that we have forgotten so soon. Who has done better.

Then he set up the Distress Response Squad charged with special operation. He procured over 200 vehicles installed with AI-embedded cameras with facial and plate number recognition. The DRS patrols the length and breadth of the state, ensuring security of lives and property. The DRS vehicles with their analytic paraphernalia make it easy to tract down criminals no matter how they disguise. If a vehicle was used in criminal operation and the plate number is changed, the AI cameras will be able to identify the vehicle despite the fact that it now carried a different number. All these were put in place for the people that they may live and go about their businesses with let. Who has done better.

As if that was not enough, Mbah then built the Command and Control Centre, Enugu. One would have to visit the place to see for oneself. It is a potpourri of gadgets ranging from AI cameras, computers, screens, and what have you. It had better be seen than described even as strategic places all over Enugu State are viewed in real time. The AI cameras communicate with the cameras on the DRS vehicles and those in each of the places they are installed. It is a world-class security architecture meant to aid surveillance, speedy communication and easy policing. And this is all over Enugu State. Who,therefore, has done better.

So, what then is this hullabaloo about security in Enugu State. Are men daft. Why should anyone, no matter how stupid, thought to impugn Mbah, knowing full well that security is his special forte. Who has done better

Right from the word go, Mbah knew that should he want to implement his manifesto, he has got to tackle security challenges headon, and headon did he tackle it. This is because for a government that mouthed private sector driven economy leveraging private investors, he has got to guarantee security, knowing full well that investors do not take security risks, though they take financial and commercial risks. So, why do the heathen rage and imagine vain things.

They said it is the opposition that is sponsoring the narratives of insecurity in order to rubbish the milestone achievements of the Mbah Administration in Enugu. If so, then that opposition is not smart. How can you see that security is uppermost in the mind of an administration and then want to tar the administration with the brush insecurity. It was a most idiotic kind of a thing. Everybody, including a babe suckling at the mother’s teat, knows that what Mbah has done in the area of security is remarkably unmatchable. The federal government has yet to build a command and control centre. Mbah has built one commissioned by President Tinubu, and someone wants us to believe Mbah is not paying attention to security. How does that sound to the ear? Who has done better.

America with world-class security infrastructure still encounters security breaches. So, that one or two persons were killed in Isi-Uzo and Uzo-Uwani does not in any way detract from the fact that Mbah has done what no man had ever done in the area of security. It is unfortunate that these souls were lost, but can you imagine what the result could have been if Mbah did not prepare to counter it. Some folks are waiting to hear of security breaches and then hype it as though there was a massacre. What do they want to achieve with that? To create the impression that Enugu is boiling? It is unfortunate.

Kidnapping at Opi-Ugwuogo Road is one area the perpetrators of these narratives thrive. They are wont to give the impression that everyday people are kidnapped on that road. That is cheap! That very road has at every pole, a police checkpoint with armoured vehicles in addition to the DRS. Granted that the daredevil kidnappers once do strike, they have never got away with it as they would sooner or later be rounded up. With the kind of security on that road, no kidnapper has ever gone undetected. Given the level of preparation, anybody who goes for kidnapping around that area is as good as committing suicide. So, who has done better.

Peter Ndubuisi Mbah has done what no man living or dead has ever done for Ndi Enugu in the area of security of Enugu State. Granted that there could be pockets of breaches as it is all over the world, those who take to crime know they cannot get away with it. Those sponsored to create an impression of mass massacre and Enugu is bleeding should desist from that. What does it benefit one to make false claims against your state simply because you are sponsored to say so. What do you want.Let it be known that no amount of shenanigans can overawe the security milestone the Mbah Administration has achieved. Those who go into crime in Enugu State should know that their days are numbered.
