The Chairman, the Igbo Etiti Local Government Area, Dr. Eric Odoh, has announced a series of groundbreaking initiatives aimed at transforming the socio-economic landscape of the council.
Speaking during a familiarization tour by the Nsukka Journalists Forum (NJF) to his office in Ogbede, Dr. Odoh outlined his administration’s ambitious plans to drive economic growth and improve the quality of life for residents.

“We are embarking on aggressive wealth creation to alleviate the plights of the people in our area,” Dr. Odoh said while highlighting his administration’s commitment to economic development. “One of the flagship programs is the Public-Private Partnership (P4) initiative, which seeks to empower youths by providing them with land for cultivation. Under this scheme, government will sponsor the cultivation and planting processea and the youths will oversee the projects with profits shared between the two parties.
He continued “We want to mobilize resources to build the largest building material complex of 1,000 shops, build 3 estates and about 50-60 kilometers of roads to be flagged off,” Dr. Odoh revealed, emphasizing the scale of his administration’s infrastructure plans.

According to him, these projects are expected to attract investments, create jobs and stimulate economic activity in Igbo-Etiti.
The chairman also highlighted his administration’s commitment to social welfare, particularly in supporting vulnerable groups. “We are recruiting 1,000 widows to be placed in salary,” Dr. Odoh announced, adding that homes have been built for indigent widows in various communities.
Furthermore, we plan to provide free universal healthcare coverage to the residents with a special focus on the elderly from 70 years and above. “Vans and ambulances provided by this administration are ready for patrol, ward by ward, to check the health status of the aged in different wards and treat them for free,”. The administration aims to increase the life expectancy of residents to 70 years and above through these initiatives.
Earlier in a speech, the chairman, Nsukka Journalists Forum, Benson Whyte Ezugwu said the visit was to familiarize with the chairman and congratulate him on his victory.

He commended the chairman on his doggedness and appealed to him not to leave any stone unturned in his administration.
In a vote of thanks, the Vice chairman NJF, Amaka Uchennadiukwu expressed her gratitude to Dr. Eric Odoh for the warm reception and insightful briefing during the familiarization tour. “We appreciate your transparency and willingness to share your vision with us, we are confident that your initiatives will bring positive change to Igbo Etiti Local Government Area.”

She also commended Dr. Odoh’s administration for its commitment to social welfare, Gender Based Violence (GBV), Infrastructure development and economic growth, promising that NJF would provide coverage for the projects by spreading the message of love according to the Chairman.
