Security, Development Take Center Stage in Igboeze North LGA

By Desirenews

The chairman of Igboeze North Local Government Area, Hon. Uchenna Ogalla, has highlighted his administration’s commitment to security in the area. Speaking with the Nsukka Journalists Forum, (NJF), Ogalla emphasized that security is a top priority, “Security is costly but it is cheaper than insecurity.” He said.

He noted that his administration is working tirelessly to ensure the safety of lives and properties, aligning with Governor Peter Mbah’s vision for a secure and peaceful Enugu State. Ogalla urged residents to cooperate with the council in implementing security measures to accelerate development.

The chairman also addressed concerns about event registration, clarifying that a N50,000 fee was introduced after consultations with stakeholders to provide security for events. He debunked claims that the council was newly imposing taxes, “it’s a long-standing practice”.

In a related development, Ogalla highlighted the ongoing modernization of Eke Ogrute market, a project demanded by the people during his administration’s campaign. “During our campaign in August and September 2024, many of the people wrote to us demanding that they want Eke market, Ogrute, modernised and that is exactly what we are doing,” he said. Regarding concerns from some individuals who claimed they were not informed about the demolition, Ogalla said, “So, those who are complaining now that they were not informed before their shops were demolished, I don’t know where that is coming from because everyone concerned was duly informed.” He appealed for patience, assuring that the renovation would bring significant benefits to the community, saying “at the end of the tunnel there is going to be light.”
