The Sam Nwaneri Event Center played host to a grand sendoff party in honor of Mr Gregory Odiakosa, the latest senior citizen who retired as Deputy Director Programs , Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN). The event was organized by the management and staff of Coal City 92.9 FM.
The host and General Mangaer Coal City 92.9FM, Lady Joy Obitulata expressed her immense enthusiasm to celebrate Mr. Greg, fondly reminiscing about their collaborative experiences. She highlighted the memorable moments they shared, which had not only strengthened their professional bond but also contributed to the station’s success.
According to her, “years we worked together had yielded numerous achievements, showcasing dedication and commitment to excellence.”

In a touching display, the Presentation Unit of the Programs Sub-Directorate, FRCN Enugu, presented a drama “The Man Greg,” which humorously portrayed Mr. Odiakosa’s style and mannerisms. The cast, comprising talented staff members, delivered a side-splitting performance that left the audience in stitches.
Speeches and tributes were poured out, celebrating Greg’s dedication, expertise, and leadership. The event was a fitting tribute to his years of service, showcasing the appreciation and respect of his colleagues and peers.
In a heartfelt tribute, the Zonal Director of FRCN Enugu, Dr. Ikechukwu Eze, commended Mr. Greg Odiakosa, saying: ‘Greg exits with excellence, no bitterness, and no ill will. He navigates conflicts with moderate tension. He’s widely regarded as a good person. When summoned, he responds promptly, he is a true professional. Sir, your work ethic is encapsulated in this phrase: “One minute work, come over; one minute call, pick it.” This speaks volumes about your dedication and promptness. As you step aside, I wish you a well-deserved vacation.”

Also speaking, an elegant and accomplished Deputy Director News, Lady Chinwe Ononye said ‘Greg, sir, You will be greater than Pit Edochie, Your reputation precedes you. Infact anytime I see you on social media, I wonder whether its this Greg I know or another person.
She further emphasized her gratitude to the corporation, saying, ‘Thank you for loving and supporting him, he is my good brother.

During a thought-provoking discussion, Mr. Egwuagu, Deputy Director Administration, offered insightful commentary on a recent drama, stating: “The scenario presented two individuals lodging complaints, yet when verification was sought by contacting the alleged culprit, they attempted to intervene. Ultimately, the call was made, yielding a valuable lesson.”
During his valedictory speech, Mr. Gregory Odiakosa, visibly overwhelmed with joy, reflected on his tenure at Radio Nigeria FM stations, where he served in various capacities. He expressed gratitude to those who contributed to his success and appreciation for the opportunities to share his skills and knowledge with colleagues who learned from him on the job.

As Mr Odiakosa embarks on his retirement, he leaves behind a legacy of passion, commitment, and excellence. The FRCN Enugu community wishes him a happy and fulfilling retirement.
Mrs Trish Eze, Jideofor Egbuche, Ndudi Chiude, and Ikechukwu Eze (Udi Ndee) served as masters of the ceremony, keeping the evening’s festivities lively and engaging. Members of staff from other sub-directorates also joined in to celebrate Mr Odiakosa’s remarkable career.
The occassion drew a large gathering of notable guests, including the Committee of Management, staff of the corporation, retired staff members including former governorship candidate Chief Kris Agu.
Also in attendance were the General Manager Pace Setter FM Umuahia, Mr. Uche Ndukwe, friends and family members of the celebrant.
