Southeast Governors Have No Excess Luggage – Ogah

By Ngwuoke Ngwuoke

A federal lawmaker, Comrade Chinedu Ogah said that Governors in the Southeast geo-political zone are sensitive to accountability and good governance.

According to him, the governors are committed to the development of the region and not guilty of the excesses often attributed to the political elite.

Speaking in an interview on Channels TV Ogah rejected claims that southeastern leaders are disconnected from the people or unpatriotic, particularly when it comes to educating their children overseas.

“Check your records. It’s only the Southeastern governor who doesn’t have his children abroad,” Ogah declared, challenging critics to verify the personal commitments of governors from the region compared to their counterparts elsewhere in the country.

“Their actions reflect a deeper sense of responsibility and connection to local institutions, contrasting with narratives that portray the southeast as politically disengaged or underperforming.

Ogah’s comments are coming on the heels of a broader discussion on the dividend of democracy in the region, marginalization, and the push for a southeastern presidency. While some observers have criticized the slow pace of federal projects and investment in the southeast, Ogah maintained that governors in the region are doing their best within limited resources.
