What Motherless Babies Wish Umahi And Why

The Chairman of the Nigerian Red Cross Society in Ebonyi State, HRH Simon Nweze, has said that children at the Motherless Babies Home in Abakaliki wish that Minister of Works, Engr. David Umahi becomes Nigeria”s president one day.

Nweze made the pronouncement in Abakaliki during a visit to the home by David Umahi Nweze (DUN) Divine Foundation as part of activities to mark the former Ebonyi governor’s 62nd birthday.

The Chairman said that the support of the minister to the home was unquantifiable adding that the children and their care-givers would remain eternally indebted to the him.

“Help us tell Umahi that the children are crying to see him and that in their prayers, they have many dreams concerning him.

“They saw in the dream where he occupied a higher position than the one he is presently occupying and from there, became the president of the country.”

Nweze noted that Umahi always visited the home whenever he celebrates his birthday and this particular one will not be an exception.

“Two.months ago, he visited the home and later offset the bills of many children here through Rev. Father Abraham Nwali.

“We join you in celebrating his 62 years on earth and pray that God continues keeping him to be doing good for humanity.”

Nweze appealled to the group and well-meaning individuals to assist the home solve its major problem of accomodation.

“This facility cannot accommodate the children here and we seek assistance to roof the new complex we have constructed.”

The Executive Director of the Foundation, Chief Cletus Ofoke noted that the group was a non governmental, political and ethnic organisation formed to uplift mankind nay the society.

“We are made up of friends and associates especially those who served under the administration of Engr David Umahi when he was the governor of Ebonyi State.

“Our hero is celebrating his 62nd birthday and as part of activities to mark the occasion, we decided to visit this home with our token.

“The items we brought include bags of rice, toiletries, bread, children pampers among others as we appreciate your role in uplifting the wellbeing of these children.”

He described Umahi as a humanist who has blazed the trail in assisting the needy and enhancing lives.

“We want to emulate him and pray that God strengthens you to continue delivering this humanitarian service.”

The group also organised a birthday party to honour the minister where associates whose lives have been touched by the minister, poured glowing encomiums on him.

Chief Austin Umahi, the Minister ‘s Younger Brother who represented him at party, thanked all those who honoured him especially the organisers.

“The minister is a man of many parts as there is no one who passed through him that is not resourceful.

“We pray that God keeps him and all of us, to continue celebrating more fruitful years on earth.”
