The University of Nigeria is pleased to announce the appointment of Professor Simon Uchenna Ortuanya as its 16th Vice-Chancellor, following a comprehensive and merit-driven selection process led by the Governing Council, chaired by Engr. Kayode Ojo.
Professor Ortuanya’s appointment was ratified by the University’s Governing Council on Sunday, marking a significant milestone in the institution’s history. With a distinguished career spanning academia and public service, Professor Ortuanya brings extensive expertise to the role.
His academic credentials include serving as Associate Dean of the Faculty of Law at the University of Nigeria, Enugu Campus, and Dean of the Faculty of Law at Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT). Additionally, he has held key positions in public service, including Secretary to the Enugu State Government and Commissioner for Education in Enugu State.
As a visiting scholar at Loyola University Chicago School of Law, Professor Ortuanya is poised to drive the University of Nigeria towards enhanced academic excellence and institutional growth. His profound knowledge of university administration, legal scholarship, and public policy positions him as an exemplary leader for Nigeria’s premier university.
