The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) has commenced its 2025 Annual General Conference (AGC) in Enugu, with over 20,000 lawyers converging on the city. The conference, on the theme “Stand Out, Stand Tall,” promises to be a significant event, with notable speakers including former President Olusegun Obasanjo and South African politician Julius Malema.
NBA President, Mazi Afam Osigwe, expressed his excitement about the conference, praising Enugu as a fitting venue due to its hospitality, beauty, and peace. “Enugu is the capital of the South East region and also the home of hospitality, beauty, and peace. That was why we chose Enugu State to host our conference,” he said to the press.
The Secretary to the Enugu State Government, Prof. Chidiebere Onyia, assured participants of a memorable experience, highlighting the state’s preparations for the event. “The Enugu State Government under Dr. Peter Mbah had already factored in most of what you are seeing in preparation right now,” he stated.
Participants have praised the city’s infrastructure and hospitality, with many expressing admiration for the airport, town, and CNG buses. “I like the airport, the town, and the CNG bus that brought us from the airport to the International Conference Centre. It was very convenient,” said Daisy Ovrawah from Delta State.
The conference promises to be a platform for discussions on building Nigeria’s economy and making it an African giant. With its rich program and notable speakers, the event is expected to be a memorable experience for all participants.
