The Enugu State Government has launched an intensified pothole repair campaign focused on urban roads across the state. This initiative aligns with the administration’s strict zero tolerance policy on potholes, aimed at ensuring safer and smoother travel in densely populated areas.

The Honourable Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Engr. Ben Osy Okoh, announced the plan during an inspection of ongoing maintenance activity within Enugu metropolis.

Explaining the initiative, Engr. Okoh said, “Our administration remains committed to maintaining our urban road network. This campaign is a direct response to the governor’s directive enforcing zero tolerance for potholes, ensuring that urban roadways are continuously monitored and repaired as needed.”

He noted that works are already ongoing across major streets and roads in Enugu, with additional areas scheduled for subsequent phases. The Ministry of Works has deployed more repair crews and extended operational hours to accelerate progress and ensure wide coverage.

Engr. Okoh also commended the Governor, His Excellency Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, for his visionary leadership and firm commitment to quality infrastructure. “The governor’s zero tolerance directive has provided the driving force for this campaign. We are determined to deliver results that reflect his vision for a modern, functional, and well-connected Enugu,” he stated.

He further urged motorists and all road users to exercise caution, adhere to traffic regulations, and reduce speed when approaching work zones to safeguard workers and the public.

Concluding, Engr. Okoh appealed for patience and cooperation from the public. “Our teams are committed to delivering durable, quality repairs with minimal disruption. We appreciate the understanding and support of Ndi Enugu as we work to elevate our urban road infrastructure to the high standards demanded by the governor’s zero tolerance approach.”
