Geoffrey Uche Nnaji, Nigeria’s Minister of Innovation, Science, and Technology, has resigned from his position amid allegations of certificate forgery. President Bola Tinubu has accepted his resignation, which was submitted after Nnaji cited allegations against him as the reason.

The controversy surrounding Nnaji’s credentials began when an investigative report questioned the authenticity of his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) certificate and degree from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN). The report by Premium Times alleged that Nnaji’s NYSC certificate was fake and that the university had retracted a statement confirming his graduation.

In a statement, the President’s spokesperson, Mr Bayo Onanuga confirmed that Nnaji’s resignation was accepted, and the minister had thanked the President for the opportunity to serve.
