The 14th Matriculation Ceremony of the Ebonyi State College of Health Sciences and Technology, Ngbo, has sent a clear message that Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru is committed to transforming tertiary education in Ebonyi State.

Speaking at the ceremony as the governor’s representative, the Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Ebonyi State, Prof Amari Omaka, SAN, praised the Governor’s efforts in 1 tertiary education through improved infrastructure, increased funding, staff development, and scholarship schemes.

According to Omaka, the Nwifuru-led administration has recorded significant achievements in education and healthcare, including the training of competent health professionals, upgrading of health facilities, and expansion of access to quality healthcare services

“His Excellency the governor has demonstrated unprecedented commitment to repositioning tertiary education in Ebonyi State.

“He has done this through improved infrastructure, enhanced funding, staff development, local and foreign scholarship schemes, and policies aimed at producing skilled and globally competitive graduates.

“The health sector has witnessed significant improvements, particularly in the training of competent health professionals, upgrading health facilities and expanding access to quality healthcare.”

Omaka also addressed concerns raised by the Provost and students union president, which included construction of internal roads, male hostels, perimeter fencing, accreditation of courses, and dearth of public power supply.

“The government will take a serious look at these issues in line with the budget provisions of the 2026 fiscal year as it relates to the College in particular and tertiary education in general.”

The Commissioner urged the newly matriculated students to remain focused on their studies, uphold discipline and integrity, and shun anti-social activities such as cult activities, drug abuse, and examination malpractices.

According to him, dedication to studies and good moral conduct are key to achieving personal success and contributing meaningfully to society to reciprocate the good intentions of Governor Nwifuru who is already repositioning tertiary education in the state in line with the People’s Charter of Needs manisfesto.

Earlier in an address of welcome, the Provost of the College, Chibueze Chetachukwu Jerry-Ursulor welcomed the matriculants to their deferent programmes and congratulated them on securing admission into the institution. He assured them of the college management’s commitment to providing quality education and a conducive learning environment while urging them to comply with the rules and regulations governing the institution.

The Special Assistant to the Governor, Comrade Joshua Nwafor, also encouraged the students to be of good conduct as they carry out their studies.

The highlight of the ceremony was the administration of the matriculation oath by the Dean of Students Affairs, after which the students were formally inducted as bona fide students of the Ebonyi State College of Health Sciences and Technology, Ngbo. The ceremony was colourful, peaceful, and successful, reflecting the institution’s steady growth and the Ebonyi State Government’s dedication to educational excellence.

274 students were matriculated and admitted into various programmes, including Community Health, Environmental Health, and Medical Laboratories science.

Our Correspondent says the 14th Matriculation Ceremony stood as a testament to the progressive vision of the Ebonyi State Government in advancing education and healthcare training, while instilling discipline and moral values in the next generation of health professionals.

The ceremony, which was attended by dignitaries from government, academia, and traditional institutions, marked a significant milestone in the academic journey of the 274 students admitted into various programmes.

The governor’s vision for educational excellence is taking shape, and the people of Ebonyi State are optimistic about a brighter future for their children.
