Chief Mrs. Florence Nwanneka Onyia (JP) to be Laid to Rest on January 5, 2026

‎The remains of Chief Mrs. Florence Nwanneka Onyia, mother of Hon. Ben Onyia, Rear Admiral (Retired) Uche Blessing Onyia and Ozo Victor Uba Onyia will be laid to rest on Monday, January 5, 2026, at her country home in Etiti Ngwo, Enugu State, Nigeria.

‎A christian wake/service of songs will be held to honour her at Coal City Hall, Ekeani Ngwo, on Sunday, January 4, 2026, at 6:00 pm. The burial service will take place at St. Mary’s Anglican Cathedral Ngwo on Monday, January 5, 2026, at 10:00 am, followed by interment at her country home.

‎Chief Mrs. Onyia, a devoted wife, mother, and community leader, passed away on October 21, 2025, at the age of 83. Her life was marked by unwavering commitment to her family, community and faith, earning her the conferment of “Mother of Faith” by the Bishop of Enugu North Diocese in Anglican Communion.

‎”Chief Mrs. Onyia’s life was dedicated to women’s empowerment and her philanthropic work earned her numerous accolades, including her role as head of the Women Affairs Department of Enugu North Local Government Area from 1999-2002.

‎Her legacy extends beyond her immediate family, touching the lives of countless individuals through her selfless service and compassion.”

‎She was made a National Patron of UMUADA IGBO NIGERIA in 2002. ê2000-2004, she was also the President, National Council of Women Society, Enugu North Local Government Area.

‎Her quest for God resulted to her trips to pilgrimage to the Holy Land of Israel in 1995, 2000 and 2002 respectively. She was the patroness of Amara Group Women Prayer Meeting at St. Mary’s Anglican Cathedral Church Ngwo. She was also a Patron of the Girl’s Guild Nigeria, Enugu State Chapter.

‎She passed on peacefully on 21st October 2025 with her two daughters beside her.

‎She is survived by 5 children, 3 daughters in-law, 10 grandchildren, a sister, a brother and many other relatives among whom are:
