Tradition Meets Majesty: HRM Ezeogo Godfrey Obia Oko Crowned Isakaogu IV in Splendid Ceremony

In a vibrant display of tradition and culture, Ndukwe Autonomous Community, also known as Isakaogu Kingdom, on Friday held the coronation of its new traditional ruler, His Royal Majesty, Ezeogo Godfrey Obia Oko, amidst pomp and pageantry that showcased the rich heritage of the people.

The air at the village square, Ogboekwa, was electric with excitement as dignitaries, traditional leaders, and well-wishers gathered to witness the crowning of the new monarch, who is expected to lead the Isakaogu people into a new era of prosperity and greatness.

The coronation ceremony was a colourful affair, with women organizations, age groups, traditional dancers, musicians, and warriors adding to the festive atmosphere.

As Ezeogo Obia Oko, resplendent in traditional regalia, was led into the arena by the kingmakers and members of his Cabinet, the crowd erupted in cheers, ovation and jubilation. The new monarch took his seat on the throne, receiving the homage of his subjects and promises of loyalty and support.

Declaring the ceremony open, the Chairman of the occasion, Baron Enya Ogbonnia, described the day as a special one for Isakaogu kingdom. He was full of praises for the traditional ruler.

“History is being made today with the coronation of Ezeogo Godfrey Obia Oko. His election as traditional ruler was not by mistake as he proved his worth in both public and community services in the past.

“Support your traditional ruler and join hands with him to attract developmental projects to the community.

“Governor Francis Ogbonnia Nwifuru is building a duplex for each traditional ruler in the state and a 2- km road for the communities. With today’s event, you can be sure that the ones for Ezeogo and Ndukwe are on the way.

In his speech, Chairman, Coronation Committee, Hon Sylvester Oko Omeri gave a background to the creation of Ndukwe Autonomous Community and the past Royal fathers.

He commended Ndukwe people for respecting the guidelines governing the chieftaincy institution in the community which led to equity, justice and fair play during the election of the new traditional ruler.

Addressing the crowd later, the new monarch promised to uphold the traditions of his forebears and work tirelessly for the development of his people.

“My people, I am your humble servant, and master. I shall rule with fairness and the fear of God. it is our social contract”, he declared.

The coronation was attended by prominent traditional leaders, government officials, and representatives of various organizations, who came to pay homage to the new ruler and celebrate the rich cultural heritage of the Isakaogu people.

The event also featured the award of Chieftaincy titles to the State Governor, Francis Ogbonnia Nwifuru, the Deputy Governor, Princess Patricia Obila, Senator Anthony Okorie Ani, Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Prof Amari Omaka, SAN, Chairman of Afikpo North Local Government, Timothy Nwachi among numerous sons and daughters of the land and well wishers as well.
