Enugu State Government Clarifies Windstorm Damage to Smart Green School Project, Reaffirms Commitment to Quality

The Ministry of Works and Infrastructure, Enugu State Government, has issued a statement clarifying the recent windstorm incident that affected the roofing of one of the ongoing Smart Green School projects in Enugu State.

In a press release signed by Ngozi MaryAnn Ngene, Public Relations Officer, the Ministry attributed the damage to a natural occurrence, emphasizing that windstorms can cause damage to exposed building components, particularly roofing elements.

The statement revealed that several private residential buildings, market shops, trees, and other structures within the same axis were also impacted by the storm, putting the incident into perspective.

The Ministry assured the public that the Smart Green Schools are being executed under strict engineering supervision and quality control procedures, and that corrective works are already underway.

The statement urged the public to disregard misleading narratives, reaffirming the Enugu State Government’s commitment to quality, accountability, and timely delivery of projects.

The Smart Green Schools programme is designed to improve learning environments, strengthen educational outcomes, and provide modern facilities for children across Enugu State.
